Excursion tour to Moscow and St Petersburg

    

Two great cities in one tour: from Moscow, with its ancient Kremlin, impregnable monasteries and strict cathedrals, you will go to the “young city” of St. Petersburg, where the Hermitage, the magnificent Grand Palace in Peterhof and beyond are waiting for you.

Tour program

 

Day1. Arrival to Moscow

Arrival to Moscow and transfer to hotel, check-in. Free time.

 

Day 2.City tour with the visit to Kremlin

After breakfast you will be taken to sightseeing tour of the city. You will pass along the famous embankments and streets of the historical city: Boulevard and Garden Ring, Kutuzovsky Prospekt; you will see the Bolshoi Theater and the Manege, the Stalinist skyscrapers, the Arc de Triomphe, the golden domes of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the swan pond at the walls of the Novodevichy Convent, Vorobyovy Gory, the building of Moscow State University, the Luzhniki Stadium, modern Moscow City skyscrapers and much more.

Time for lunch (not included)

You will visit the Moscow Kremlin, which located on its territory unique monuments of architecture and art of the XV - XX centuries: temples, churches and chambers, magnificent palaces and front office buildings. You will walk along the Kremlin squares and streets, see the Tsar Bell and Tsar Cannon, visit the cathedrals: Assumption, Arkhangelsk and Blagoveshchensky.

 

Return to the hotel. Free time.

 

Day 3. Sergiev Posad and Moscow metro

Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out. Today you will go to Sergiev Posad and take excustion "For the monastery gates ..." with a visit to the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra, the largest Orthodox male monastery in Russia, founded by St. Sergius of Radonezh more than five hundred years ago.

Return to the city. Time for lunch (not included).

After you will discover the underground world of Moscow. You will visit the first stations of the Moscow Metro - real palaces that amaze with the splendor of the decor - reliefs, paintings, mosaics, stained-glass windows and murals of the leading artists of the country. Entrance halls and underground halls of the Moscow metro are decorated with statues, bronze panels, rare rocks of marble. In the lining of many stations there are various fossils - shells of nautilus, ammonites and other prehistoric mollusks.

Return to the hotel. Free time.

 

Day 4. High speed train to St Petersburg

Breakfast. Transfer to railway station and boarding high speed train “Sapsan”.

Arrival in St. Petersburg. Meeting with a guide at the Moscow station.

Sightseeing tour "Portrait of the Great City". Acquaintance with the history of the creation of St. Petersburg and the architectural ensembles of the historical center: Strelka Vasilievsky Island, Palace, Senate, St. Isaac's Square, Nevsky Prospect, ensemble of the Smolny Monastery. Excursion to the Peter and Paul Fortress with an internal inspection of the Cathedral of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.

Time for lunch (not included).

Visit to St. Isaac's Cathedral - one of the most magnificent and monumental monuments of St. Petersburg, the largest Orthodox church in the city. The interior decoration is amazing, in which all kinds of monumental and decorative art are represented - painting, sculpture, mosaic, colored facing stone. Over 40 years the best architects, painters and sculptors worked on the construction, painting, gilding of the cathedral.

Day 5.  Petergof and The Hermitage

Breakfast. You will visit one of the most grandiose palace and park complexes – Petergof. The lower park is remarkable for its fountains and royal buildings, designed and partially executed under Peter the Great. You will also visit the Grand Palace - the main building of the Peterhof Palace and Park Ensemble, built in the style of "Peter's Baroque".

Return to the city. Time for lunch (not included).

You will visit one of the largest museums in the world – the Hermitage. For more than 240 years, the Hermitage has assembled one of the largest collections, numbering about three million works of art and monuments of world culture, from the Stone Age to our century.

 

Return to the hotel. Free time.

 

Day 6. Tsarskoe selo and Catherine Palace

Breakfast. Transfer to suburb town – Pushkin, where The State Museum-Reserve Tsarskoye Selo, the former suburban residence of the imperial family, is located. It’s truly monument of world architecture and landscape art of the 18th - early 20th centuries. During the tour you will visit the majestic Catherine Palace and see the famous Amber Room.

Return to the city. Time for lunch (not included).

Also today you will visit the Peter and Paul Fortress and the Peter and Paul Cathedral, where the necropolis of the imperial Romanov family is located.

Return to the hotel. Free time.

 

Day 7. End of the tour

After breakfast you will have transfer to airport or railway station.
